Save Internet Radio

I’ve been a big fan of Pandora for awhile now. There is a bill before Congress that is threatening the future of all internet radio, including Pandora.

A bill called the “Internet Radio Equality Act” has already been introduced in both the Senate (S. 1353) and House of Representatives (H.R. 2060) to fix the problem and save Internet radio–and Pandora–from obliteration.

In protest many internet radio stations, like Pandora, are going silent for one day to raise awareness, and let people know what it will be like without internet radio.

SaveNetRadio.org is the site to check, but is unavailable last I checked. So, you can to to Pandora’s site to read more about what this is all about, as well as get a link to information on how to contact your Congresspersons.

One Response to “Save Internet Radio”

  1. The bill is GOOD. Its the board ruling that is bad.

I listen to Yahoo Music and they shut down today unless you pay for it (which I do) …. If and when prices go up or my service goes away I will react by going with a less expensive foreign solution (Last.fm, although CBS just bought them — wonder how that would work?) and I am sure I will not be alone. The board ruling will have one effect. To ensure the unprofitability of Internet radio in the US and thus ensure customers send their American dollars overseas. Brilliant guys. Totally brilliant.

Its time for congress to wake up and smell the global implications of Internet services.
