For my kids, Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends is one of their favorites. Wanting something a bit more durable and better quality, we opted to get the wooden railway sets. Over the past several years, we’ve accumulated quite a collection of track, engines, cars and accessories. However, the Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall notice for several pieces because of dangerous lead in the paint. The CPSC recommends you take these items away from your kids and contact RC2, the maker of the products, for replacements. Most seem to involve red or yellow paints.

Pull up your pants! I’ve always had a problem with guys wearing their pants hanging halfway down their butt, showing off the top portion of their boxers/boxer-briefs. Now, apparently one town in Louisiana is going to fine you, and repeat offenders could receive up to six months jail time, by putting underwear on the list of “forbidden exposures”.

We know that child obesity is becoming a problem here in the US, but the BBC reports that it has been a factor in at least 20 child protection cases over in the UK last year, considering it to be a “form of neglect”. For the most part, we as parents need to do a better job of teaching our kids to make better choices and watching their intake. Getting them outside to play several hours a day, instead of playing Xbox or Playstation — or at least get them moving with a Wii, is probably a good idea too. I know that I haven’t done a good job of setting an example myself, but I’ve really begun to work at eating healthier and am down 15 pounds in 9 weeks.

Wait, maybe I do feel sorry for Paris Hilton. The LA Times is reporting that she’ll be serving more jail time than most found guilty of similar crimes. Um … then again, I still think I don’t feel too bad. But, apparently Hilton has found God … or maybe she just thinks that that’s what most inmates do, so she wants to be fashionable. David Letterman offered his own “Top 10 Signs Paris Hilton Has Found God” on the show last night ….
