Raising a G-Rated Family in an X-Rated World

bookImageE.D. Hill, host of Fox News Live, had Brent Hatch, “a father of seven and author of, A Survival Guide From a Family of Nine: Raising a G-Rated Family in an X-Rated World“, on the show recently. At Hill’s blog, HillFriends.com, he says:

Mr. Hatch explained that although there has always been violence on TV, it’s of greater concern today because the amount of violence allowed to be shown has increased. Not only has violence become more commonplace on TV but also what is aired is more graphic, sexual and sadistic than is has been in the past. He pointed out how today’s violence is portrayed as a game on TV, and often even has the “good guys” committing violent acts.

In a culture that is seemingly obsessed with sex and violence, this book may provide helpful strategies for parents who want to responsibly introduce and discuss these topics with their children — rather than allow them to drown in the cultural cesspool.

If anyone has read this book, please share your thoughts and impressions here.

Surfing around the web for more information about the book, I found this piece that also has some comments/critiques from folks like Sen Orrin Hatch, Dr. Stephen R. Covey, and Marlee Matlin, among others.

And, I came across the Hatch’s website, which has more information and various media to complement the book’s information.
