MSM crowns shooter as hero

Thank God the mainstream media (MSM) weekend editions are over because that’s what it was like they were doing.

With the coverage given to the shooter in the Virginia Tech case, you’d have thought that this guy (and I’m purposefully not using his name) did something heroic. Heck, heroes don’t get as much coverage as this guy got!

They have made this guy famous; infamous. A curtain call in his plan to show all the “brats” and “snobs”. It is precisely for this reason that the MSM should not have shown the video. This is the reason why they should not continue to show pictures of him or quotes. There is no reason to give this guy a platform and a voice.

Will the media not realize that by their sensationalizing of this tragedy they are making this guy into a folk hero; an icon to the marginalized teens and young adults in our nation?

  1. You’re absolutely right, Matt. There are REAL heroes we could talk about– like VA Tech Professor Liviu Lebrescu, a Romanian-Jewish Holocasut survivor, who barred his classroom door with his body so that his students would have time to get out the window. He died to protect them, and that’s what a REAL hero is.
