‘American Girl Place’ breaks heart of 6 year-old

I was going to make this just another item in a list of weekend reading. I thought it deserved more attention.

“One of those Horrible Moms” tells the true tale of how American Girl Place broke a six-year-old girl’s heart. Way to go, American Girl!

Here’s how I think American Girl should handle this situation:

  1. Give six-year-old Etta her choice of any American Girl doll that is manufactured by the company, for free
  2. Give her a complete wardrobe of all accessory items and outfits manufactured by the company for that doll, for free
  3. Give her a card or certificate that would provide lifetime styling for the dolls hair, at no charge
  4. A private party at the American Girl Place Cafe, and day at the store, for up to 10 of her friends and their parents and siblings, free of charge.
  5. Letters of apology from the company, the manager of the store and the stylist.

It’s the least they can do to begin to heal the wounds they’ve inflicted on this little girl. Anything less really doesn’t cover it — especially if it’s only a token gesture that is simply done to lessen the negative image this has cast on the company (as if they didn’t already have some problems because of their support of a pro-abortion girls’ group).

Then, American Girl should hope and pray that the mother and her daughter, along with the rest of the family, will accept that.

American Girl, LLC can be contacted through their website and by phone.

  1. My daughter owns an internet company (http://www.dollsclothes-emilyrose.com) that sells AG stuff that is more affordable specifically so that kids can add more to their collection without spending a million. They actually offered Etta (on the original post) to come and shop with them and get free shipping on all her orders.
