Will Pope make modern-day fish miracle?

I’ve seen this article for the past several days, but I was looking for a way to give it the tribute that it deserves.

See, Kentucky Fried Chicken petitioned the Vatican for the Pope’s blessing on it’s new Fish Snacker sandwich. Of course, it’s quite an advertising campaign they’ve got going, getting much mileage out of just the reporting of something that seems so foolish.

Of course, McDonald’s has a head start on the Colonel, having come out with the Filet-o-Fish in 1965 in order to lure Catholics into the restaurants during Lent.

I’m quite certain that the Pope will not give his blessing to such a commercial endeavor, especially since the request said that the sandwich is “is ideal for American Catholics who want to observe Lenten season traditions while still leading their busy, modern lifestyles.”

Ugh! There’s no way the Pope will participate in the commercialism of Lent. In fact, it’d be nice to see him use it as a teachable moment.
