- Christianity Today Review: Amazing Grace
Amazing Grace is rated PG and suitable for most audiences. There are some graphic descriptions of how the slaves were treated on the ships, but no violence is depicted other than a man beating a horse off screen. Words like “hell,” “damn,” “a**,” and “n****r” are used, but sparingly. Viewers under 12 or so will likely be bored by the film’s historic content and talky tone, but can otherwise handle it if they’re familiar with the subject of slavery from school. - Decent Films Review: The Astronaut Farmer
The Astronaut Farmer doesn’t quite rise above its clichés. Northfork plays for me less as an actual art film than a film about the idea of an art film. Similarly, The Astronaut Farmer feels more often than not almost like a diagram of an inspirational film rather than a full-blooded example of the genre.
For the family? The Astronaut Farmer is rated PG for thematic material, peril, and language. The language is mostly mild, and the danger merely results in some bruises and broken ribs. Government officials are portrayed as pretty idiotic, and therefore not to be respected or obeyed. This could launch an interesting conversation about when it’s appropriate to stand up for your dreams, and convictions and when you need to honor the laws of the land.–Christianity Today
