Putting the “bedroom” into the classroom

Estabrook Elementary School in Massachusetts believes that teachers are fulfilling “a legitimate state interest” by teaching homosexuality in the classroom. According to a recent WorldNetDaily article, ‘State interest’ argued in teaching homosexuality, parents also do not require prior notification of the material being taught. Therefore, they cannot allow their children to opt-out of the teaching.

And, you know what? Homosexual activists are telling parents that the have no right to opt-out of this “diversity training”.

[L]awyers for the school district argued … that, in their opinion, parents have no right to control what ideas the school presents to elementary schoolchildren, and if parents disagree with that dictate, they can take their children elsewhere.

The idea is preposterous, in my opinion. Many parents don’t have the option to “take their children elsewhere”. That should not require that their rights and freedoms be trampled by the public school system.

This goes deeper though … and this is why it is relevant to the CatholicSphere

Not only Catholic belief, but a nearly-unanimous survey of Christian and non-Christian belief, regards homosexual behavior as unacceptable and unnatural. By requiring that children be indoctrinated, and perhaps assimilated, in direct contrast to such beliefs is a violation of religious and civil rights guaranteed by the US Constitution, as well as many state constitutions (if not all, since I have to admit I haven’t read all the state constitutions). But more than that it violates a whole host of Catholic beliefs about God, marriage, family and social responsibility and freedoms.

Another sad fact of all this is that resulted in a “hate crime”.

Just days later, David Parker’s [plaintiff in the case against the school] son, Jacob, was beaten up at the school, officials said. MassResistance said a group of 8-10 kids surrounded him and took him out of sight of “patrolling aides,” then pummeled and beat him.

Of course, I’m certain this wasn’t prosecuted, let alone deemed a hate crime. Had the victim been a homosexual, however, the students may have been expelled or even faced juvenile imprisonment!

We have to stand up for our rights here!

We have to get the word out that our rights and freedoms are being trampled. No more is this a simple calling by homosexuals to “stay out of the bedroom”. No more is this about letting homosexuals do and live as they choose. No more can it be said “homosexuals living together or getting married don’t affect you heterosexuals” or Catholics or Baptists or Methodists or Jews or Muslims or {insert your religion or non-religion of choice here}.

They have taken the “bedroom” and thrown it smack dab into the middle of the classroom. And, your children may be taken hostages in the battle that homosexual activists are waging against traditional values and beliefs.

Is this acceptable to you? What if it escalates? What if your son or daughter was beaten because they held traditional values? Why should homosexuals have rights that you as a heterosexual don’t have? Why should homosexuals have privileges that you as a heterosexual don’t have?

Think about it. This has been escalating for a few decades. This is no longer about homosexuals having the right to do what they want in the privacy of their own homes. Now, it’s the right of homosexuals to indoctrinate your children in a set of beliefs that is different from those which your family values.

And, if you don’t comply, your child may just get beaten up (or, God forbid worse).

All because you believe the Word of God…

  1. [...] Following up on a story I blogged on a few weeks back, a judge dismissed a suit by parents objecting to teaching homosexuality in the public school classroom. (Certainly seems another reason to home school! Unfortunately, there are obstacles that prevent that option from being open to everyone.) [...]

  2. [...] I have to applaud this student for taking such a stand. As homosexuals become more outspoken and speaking out against the acceptance of the gay lifestyle becomes a minority position, it can become quite dangerous to say or do anything that might raise the ire of gays and activists.
