Catholic organizations need YOU!
I always hate to see Catholic organizations going under… I wish I could help them all monetarily (those that are deserving). Unfortunately, I cannot do so … but hopefully this blog can be a force in doing some good to that effect.
Right now there are two that I know of that could use your help. It won’t take a lot of your time or money … so long as many give a little (and in at least one case, very little).
The first of these is Sophia Institute. Several classic Catholic books have been forced out of print because Sophia Press did not have the available funds to reprint them. They are are in urgent need of your help. All they ask … US$1.00! That’s it. You can get more information on how to help and donate by going to the Help Sophia Institute page.
The second is what I’ve found to be a wonderful “portal” site for tracking new, blogs, local weather, Scripture verses, reflections from the saints, word of the day, etc It is a “Customizable Catholic Homepage” and needs your help to stay online in the coming year (you can also read their plans for 2007 on that same page). To-date they’ve raised nearly $1,700 of the $3,000 they need to keep myCatholic.com, Catholic Blogs, Catholic Jobs, and Catholic Content online in 2007.
Their sites are ad-free and they are getting a lot of traffic, which has forced them to go to a private server to handle the added bandwidth. With as many as 50,000 people viewing and using their sites, you’d think it easy to get a mere $3,000.
I’d encourage you to send Sacred Heart Media, who owns myCatholic.com, etc, at least $1.00 … ($5.00, $10.00 or $20.00 or more if you can).
Support these Catholic organizations and be a participant in spreading the Gospel — something we are all called to do!
God bless!
