Advent 2006
Earlier this week, with unseasonable warm weather for November in Chicago, we put up our outside decorations for Christmas.
I used the decorations to explain a bit more about the Gospel to my (6-year-old!) daughter…
- The white lights we put up symbolize that Jesus is the Light that came into the World at Christmas.
The red bows and “berry lights” remind us that He died for our sins.
The green trees and garland are for the everlasting life that we have have in Him.
And, the multi-colored lights that we decorate with are for all the different people of the world that He came to save.
I’m sure I could have stretched this all further, but I decided to stop there.
When I finished, she smiled, gave me a hug and said “That’s neat, Daddy!”
A Blessed Advent Season to You all!

Bravo, Dad. Good use of a teaching moment.
