Limbo little lower?
The “theological speculation” (as opposed to an actual doctrine) known as Limbo (which is different than the Limbo of the Fathers (limbus patrum) (also known as Abraham’s Bosom) is being studied by a Vatican Theological commission. It is anticipated that whenever the document from the commission is published, it will place limbo of the children in a lesser status in theological circles to avoid confusion about God, grace and mercy.
The Commission has already emphasized that it is proposing no changes in Catholic doctrine, and will maintain the rich tradition of the Church.
Limbo was a “theological speculation” put forth to answer the question about those children who died without having committed a personal sin, but with “original sin” still on their soul, prior to Baptism. It sought to harmonize the doctrine of original sin, God’s mercy, and the necessity of Baptism. The Scriptures and Tradition of the Church give us great testimony to each of these things, but have not provided clear answer on the fate of those who die without Baptism, but without a personal, actual sin on thier soul.
It will be interesting to see what the Theological Commission comes up with for answers to the many questions that theologians have tried to answer for centuries on this issue.

Well, personally, I don’t see why the Theological Commiission has any interest is discussing limbo. It’s a fun game, especially after you’ve had a couple.
Seriously, though, I think “limbo” is really bad theology, and ought to be pitched.
