Atheist Nation?
With all the advocates out there these days driving the case for separating religious beliefs from public life, there is an ever-increasing movement to make atheism the official religion of the state. This is precisely the problem many saw with communist Russia years ago.
By bringing cases against state-sponsored or run institutions when an employee of that institution invokes anything that could be construed as “religious” — especially “Christian” — the U.S. is moving toward becoming an atheistic nation.
We are a nation that predominately, overwhelmingly, believes in God. Whether it be the Christian God, the Islamic God, the Jewish God, or any other God (not that there is more than one God!) … most believe in God. So, why should we be forced to believe or act as though there is no God? That’s what we’re being asked to do, right?
By being told that because people believe different things about God, we should strike God from our public actions, we are being told to accept a form of atheism. We are being told to act as if there is no God.
We shouldn’t do that. If we truly believe in God (and belief not put into action is the same as no belief at all), we need to act consistently in our lives in that understanding. We must do that.
