My personal belief is that it's better to have one parent stay home if it's possible. A lot of people claim that most families today HAVE to have two incomes, but I think a lot of times that's not true-- they'd simply have to live a little less extravagantly. Re marriage, you're so right. I'd add that it's also very important to get to know your prospective spouse's family. Is there a history of alcoholism, verbal or physical abuse, etc.?
