Judiciary Committee sends Marriage Amendment to Senate
The importance behind this [tag]amendment[/tag] is to prevent states that do not allow gay marriage from being forced to recognize such marriages performed in other states. While presently the only state to allow [tag]same-sex marriage[/tag], Massachusetts, has a provision that does not allow it to be entered into by non-residents, Washington is considering the issue and does not have such provisions. This could allow non-residents of Washington to enter into a same-sex marriage and then travel back to their home state and file lawsuits to force the recognition of their union.
