US Senate has confirmed Alito to the US Supreme Court.
There has been alot of controversy surrounding the nomination and confirmation of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court … mainly because of fears over his position on abortion. Yet, the strange thing is … he was unanimously confirmed to the US Circuit Court of Appeals in 1990; but now Democratic Senators (including those who praised him highly, such as Senator Kennedy — or, for those who don’t like GOP.com, how about this alternative) are calling his comments into question.
The blatant partisanship has to stop. The PACs and other special interests have too much of a foothold in the goings-on in the government. The public is more moderate than they are either liberal or conservative … but on the issues that really matter, such as life issues versus “privacy” the public would prefer to err on the side of life issues …. not “privacy” which has been the rule of the day for the last decade or more.
We seem to miss the real problems and cover them up with discussions about moral values, like abortion. Alito is pro-business and that is the real story behind the Democrats concerns. Watch his rulings and learn how bigotry, hatred and greed are the values that the “Conservatives” have adopted in the past 40 years. Abortion just gets the Religious groups stirred up to vote against their tru interests. Little or nothing will be done about abortion because it will take that issue off the table in future elections.
