Alito nomination to go to the full Senate

All 10 Republicans voted for Alito, while all eight Democrats voted against him.

During the past month or so, we have seen precisely why those who are pro-life voted overwhelmingly for George Bush for President. The nominations of John Roberts and Samuel Alito to the SCOTUS has validated the reasons for his election. The sad thing is that we had to conceed the war and the economy to get it. Democrats are proving that they have learned nothing from the election, making abortion and Roe v Wade a litmus test for approval of nominees to the high court.

It is obvious that Alito is well-qualified. And, the opposition to his nomination is divided almost exclusively along party lines. What is the reason behind the opposition? Alito would not comment on how he would rule on abortion cases, nor would he kowtow to Democratic members of the Senate judiciary committee to say that Roe v Wade was “settled law”.

Democrats have to wake up and learn that abortion is a fundamental crime against humanity. It is the position of the stupid and/or the ignorant to say “I am personally opposed, but I believe each person should be free to make their own decisions”. Any that hold this position, are not “personally opposed” for the right reasons; these lack proper understanding. If they had full understanding of the issue, they could not possibly say that people should be “free to make their own decisions” on this issue. Instead, they would be teaching people that proper understanding.

What is the “proper understanding”? That life begins at fertilization. The framers of our Constitution, and those who sought and won our independence, understood this. They recognized not that “all men are born equal”, but that “all men are created equal”.

The scales are beginning to move back toward an anti-abortion side. It is those who are, or choose to remain, uninformed who are still for the killing of human life in the womb; who fail to recognize that the foundations of the country regardedcreated life as equal and of worth. Knowing that humans are being killed, our elected representatives need to educate those who lack that understanding, not allow them to be ignorant of such truth.

Now is the time.
