Happy New Year!
2006 … Wow! 2005 seemed to go by so quickly …
And, alot happened in 2005, but there is hopefully good things to look forward to in 2006. Pope Benedict XVI starts the new year at the helm of the Catholic Church. There are those who have expected him to do more during the past 8 months as the Bishop of Rome. However, he seems to have a prudent strategy to first establish himself as not only a faithful teacher of Catholic doctrine, but also one whom individuals look to with trust to lead them rightly. And, he seems to be doing just that through his daily audiences and speeches to various groups. Very interesting things appear to be in-store this year and folks should pay attention to what’s going on Romeward.
More locally, I’ve got alot of plans — in the spirit of the season, let’s call them resolutions for CatholicSphere in the next year … the first is to finally come through on a request by a friend (sorry it’s taken so long, Martin!) to host the homepage for CatholicSource. I hope to have it fully moved over in the next few weeks. For any that don’t know, CatholicSource has received a “triple-A” rating or “Triple Excellence” award from Catholic Culture (formerly PetersNet) for the past 5 years. The plan is to keep this site and that one separate, and not make too many changes to the CatholicSource site, so that it may keep its rating. (I have not submitted CatholicSphere for review, since it is mainly a blog …)
On that note about CatholicSphere being mainly a blog, I intend to change that a little bit … creating both a traditional site and a blog. That will happen over the next several months. I really like to create new banners and headers for the site and do stuff in Photoshop, but I want to focus more on content and try to get a good look and feel to the site that will be more permanent. Information on the site will be available for people to reference in their own dialogues around the web, and for learning. The blog will continue to provide a trustworthy Catholic commentary on recent events and news.
I’d really like to hear from any of the readership, to know what you would like to see from this blog … what you think is missing from the web that you’d like to be able to get somewhere on the web.
Thanks for a good 2005 and looking forward to a greater 2006.
