It’s Not The Presents Under Your Tree

Its not the presents under your tree. It’s not about the tree itself. It’s not about the decorations or the baking or the greeting cards or even “Merry Christmas” versus “Happy Holidays”.

You saw this coming right? A mile away? You knew this blog was “CatholicSphere”, and you saw through the thin facade, to the agenda of this week. It was to trash all your hard work (it wasn’t difficult at all, right?) and tell people that such things are worthless.

“Typical Christian hogwash! Why can’t you just let people enjoy the season for what it is? My Christmas will be just fine without Jesus.

Maybe you’re right that your Christmas will be just fine without Jesus. Maybe people can enjoy the season. But …

What about after Christmas? Will you be sitting there on Christmas night, thinking back on the day and the joy over the presents, and the family or friends that were around?

See, I’m not here to bash your celebration of Christmas. I’m letting you know that there’s more, and that the feeling of Christmas does need to come around once a year and then go nearly as quickly. The feelings of Christmas time with family and friends, and all the other things around it are wonderful … when love is present in what is done. The greater the love, the greater the joy.

Besides all the love for one another that we share on Christmas … we celebrate the love of God, given to us in Christ Jesus. Though most likely not born on December 25th, it is still this that we recall on that day.

Take some time to think about it, and ponder whether you’d like to have an “enhanced Christmas”, and experience a Christmas Joy that will last past the day itself.
