Coming to an iPod near you: porn!
The porn industry has found its newest platform: mobile devices. With the release of the video iPod, porn will become more accessible and viewable than ever before. Laws are being enacted because people are watching porn on DVD systems in their vehicles where it may be viewed by kids, or those who do not prefer to see such things. PlayStation Portable and Cell phones are also getting their share.
Parents need to be aware, because regulations on these things are only starting to emerge, and laws are unclear on what is allowable and prosecutable. Some kids have web-enabled cell phones, which can make them capable of downloading and exchanging pornography. Frankly, I’ve got to say I’m shocked by this trend. For those who feel the need to view such things, I can’t believe its not enough to view these things in the privacy of one’s own home.
But, there may be something else that’s scary out there. As porn’s reach, and privacy, has become more widespread, so it seems has the prevalence of child predators. It has become so bad that parents cannot allow their child into a public restroom without accompanying them.
And, the government has ruled that the distribution of porn — even potentially to kids — is a protected First Amendment right. So, don’t expect any help there, while child porn is the fastest growing internet business.
