Hurricane Katrina: A Sparing ‘Blow’?

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, there are no shortage of images testifying to the devistation caused. And, there is the message that it could have been much worse.

That is probably no consolation to those who lost everything, even their lives or the lives of loved ones … yet, there was something I read today about the few hours before Katrina made landfall on the Gulf Coast that made me pause ….

“Meteorologists say a puff of dry air coming out of the Midwest weakened Katrina just before it reached land, transforming a Category 5 monster into a less-threatening Category 3 storm.”

This bit of information left me thinking about God’s hand … Because of the devastation and loss that was caused by this huge hurricane, many may not see this in the same light, but I get this vision of God exhaling a short breath in the direction of Katrina which took away some of its strength and moved it just east of New Orleans …
