“Quality of life” doesn’t justify death sentence
The results of the autopsy of Terri Schaivo were released yesterday. Did it make any sense to say, “Since we don’t think she would ever recover, we’ll starve her to death”?
Terri’s death was due to dehydration.
If you squeeze out a sponge, it gets smaller and weighs less, but that doesn’t make it less of a sponge.
One thing I don’t understand is the purpose of reiterating the size/ weight of her brain so often in news reels as if to demonstrate PVS.
I mean, the brain is approximately 95% water, and they admitted to dehydration as the cause of death, and it took, what?, 13 days?, wouldn’t it follow that her brain would diminish in size and weight in proportion to the progression of water deprivation?
