You can say whatever you want … just don’t mention anything that could be “religious”

‘Awesome God’ Barred from ‘Frenchtown Idol\’ Talent Show

The banning of God from the public square is said to base itself on a “wall of separation” of Church and State. No matter who you are, no matter what race, color, gender or sexual orientation, you do not have a right to invoke God in anything affiliated with government.

Or so say many judges, and other government and school officials.

But, those opposing same-sex marriage, for instance, tried to use the same kind of logic; No matter your race, color, gender or sexual orientation, you do not have the right to marry someone of the same sex. They were stifled and repremanded.

So, what’s the difference? Supporters of same-sex marriage say that preventing same-sex couples from marrying is discriminatory against those who want to marry someone of the same gender. Those who disagree with their beliefs and lifestyle should not be able to dictate what they can do. Aren’t those who want to express their beliefs in God being discriminated against? The logical answer is “yes”.

It seems that what has to happen is that freedom of expression and freedom of religion must be silenced and stifled in order for abortion and same-sex marriage, and stem-cell research, etc to be allowed to come into the mainstream.

If we are really saying that people should be free to do as they please, then that should include the freedom to express their personal beliefs, no matter if it be faith in God, or something else. But, if we say that people are not free to do as they please, then we need to come up with darn good reasons.
